Jonathan Parmer, MD
Managing Partner
Jon, a retired Ob/Gyn, is the founder of Swan Ventures and the Managing Partner of its first two fund-of-funds.
He is a graduate of Princeton University and New York University School of Medicine. Jon interned at Los Angeles County Hospital and did his Ob/Gyn residency training at Stanford University. After his residency, he opened a private practice in Palo Alto. While in practice, he served on the Strategic Planning Committee of Stanford University Hospital, as Deputy Chief of Stanford’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine. Throughout his career, Jon has consulted for multiple venture capitalists and worldwide healthcare companies.
In 2000, he founded Swan Ventures, primarily to give Silicon Valley physicians an opportunity to invest in a diverse portfolio of top-tier venture capital funds.
Additionally, in 2005, Jon founded Viveve Corporation (FKA TivaMed), a women’s health medical-device company, and was its initial CEO. Jon has had numerous United States and International patents issued, which he assigned to Viveve. Jon left Viveve in 2009 and left Silicon Valley (and California) shortly thereafter.
In semi-retirement, Jon continues to manage the remaining Swan Venture fund-of-funds. He also has served as a consultant to Viveve and other entities. Although Viveve no longer exists, Jon is a consultant to the international healthcare company that purchased the Intellectual Property from Viveve and thus holds the assignment of his patents. Jon is back in California (San Diego, not Silicon Valley), where Swan Ventures III, will be based.
